On Wednesday the 11th of December our sixth years held the annual St Catherine’s Christmas Party in our Sports Arena! This is a wonderful tradition which has been around in our school for many years. For many, it is one of the most memorable days of their six years of secondary school and our students never fail to prepare an amazing day!
Sam Lyons was elected as Santa this year and arrived to St David's at 11am on Wednesday morning once the students from St Catherine's Special School had arrived. He was accompanied by his beloved Mrs Claus, played by Stella Henrys, and his four head elves: Grace Doyle, Freya Duffy, Ryan Leahy, and Nathan Donlon. A massive thank you to Greystones Fire Station who each year allow Santa to arrive in style in one of their fire trucks!
The party was in full swing from then on, with Mr and Mrs Claus stationed in Santa's Grotto and various activities taking place. We had cookie decorating, face painting, games, and music and refreshments for all. The arrival of pizza did not go unnoticed and left everyone in somewhat of a food coma as the Christmas carols began!
All in all, it was an amazing day put on by our sixth years and Ms. Courtney, from their patience and kindness to their work in the days leading up as they decorated, baked, bought and wrapped presents, and so much more!
