On Thursday the 5th of December, our TY students took part in the nationwide Think Languages Week. This week seeks to celebrate different countries and cultures from all around the world.
From face paint to bingo, each and every person enjoyed a range of activities linked with learning new languages taught by students from the year.
Special mentions to Lisa Phelan and Lisa Landweher both taught German to the year,
Aoife Smyth helped to teach the students a bit of Portuguese, Tymek Nempa and Sean Costello, who taught the TY's Polish, Michael Simotsev and Ewan Macadam, who played Russian bingo with the TYs as well as some of the language, and Rachel John and Sophie Chen, who taught the students Malayalam Illakkiyathangam and Ramalingam Muthu taught her year Tamil.
All students also took part in Flamenco dancing which was a very enjoyable way to experience the art of dance in Spain and some laughs were had by all.Â
To end the day, everyone was taken down to the foyer to try some traditional foods from all over the world brought in by students in the year. This was followed by a relaxing movie in French or Spanish for each class.
We’d like to thank all of the teachers who made this day possible and to all of the students to gave up a bit of extra time to share their culture!!Â
