Yesterday, October 9th, our TYs set off for the exciting annual trip to Causey Farm in Co. Meath, still on the high from Junior Cert results the day before! A slight change from the TYs usual scenery, the bog and working farm was an interesting experience. Led by expert tour guides, they were split into groups, and brought around the farm.
The day's activities ranged from visiting animals (some very eager alpacas included), baking brown bread in the kitchen, and of course the highlight of the trip, bog jumping! Our TYs took everything in their stride, getting ‘stuck in’ in the bog. They even got to visit some of the Farmaphobia attractions, - Causey Farms Halloween park- including the infamous tunnels… The day was spent smiling and laughing. The bumpy ride on the cattle cart was in a singsong coming back from the bog, though the teachers may not have been too impressed by the hyper, mucky teenagers!
After the day was done, a tired busload set off home, arriving back to the school before four. Hopefully the homemade bread survived the journey home, though it's doubtful.
A massive thanks to the teachers involved, to Causey Farm for having us, and of course to Ms. Courtney for organising the whole day!
