On January 9th, our Transition Years received an educational and inspiring talk from four Irish UN veterans who all served in different branches of the Irish defence service. Veterans Viv, Andy, Jerry and Ronnie gave the fourth years some valuable insight on the Irish Defence forces.
Transition years learned about the history and background of our defence forces, as well as the training and the opportunities within the organisation such as sport, music and higher education.
Some artefacts were also brought along so the TYs could see the kind of things used in the army.
The talk lasted an hour and gave the year group valuable insight and advice on possible future career paths within the defence service.
Thank you very much to the inspirational veterans for visiting the school and talking to our TYs.
