On Wednesday 21st of September we held our annual whole school mass for the start of the 22/23 academic year in our brand new state-of-the-art Sports Arena.
Our annual school mass was held on Wednesday the 21st of September in the new school Sports Arena.
All the students and staff attended the Mass led by Fr John and Fr Gerard, our local priests. It opened with welcomings from Fr John, Fr Gerad, Mr Carey, Head Boy Michael, and Head Girl Aoife.
Fr John spoke about the importance of not losing hope when in despair, and to rejoice in good times. He emphasised that 'this too shall pass,' giving students something to remember when times are hard and something to remeber to savour the good times. Students from all the different year groups contributed to the mass by reading the prayers of the faithful, bringing the gifts of the bread and wine up to the altar, and bringing symbols such as the school journal up.
The 'Our Father' was said together, communion was given out and the teachers and staff received a blessing. Our beautiful choir sang a variety of songs throughout the service, blessing our ears.
Everyone was wished a good school year ahead and the Mass was concluded with a prayer said by Fr Gerard.
The Mass was a great way to bring our entire Catholic school community together at the beginning of the new school year, and we thank everyone involved greatly.
