Today, the entire school community gathered in the Sports Hall for the first Whole School Assembly of the academic year of 2025/26. The assembly began with a welcome from our principal, Mr Carey, as he acknowledged the wonderful Leaving Certificate results received by the Class of 2025. He continued on to wish our Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate students of 2026 the best of luck in the year to come.
As ethos is one of our main main pillars in our school, Lily Cullen and Clark Kelly both said prayers for blessings over all students. Mr Carey reminded all students to keep Ms O’Sullivan and Fr Des in our prayers as they both recover from surgeries, we wish them a speedy recovery.
Rian O’Gorman and Kate Macaddam introduced themselves as the new Head Boy and Head Girl for this school year. Deputy Head Boy, Paddy Marrinan, gave an excellent speech in Irish. The liaison team reminded students that they wear a silver badge as identification and not to be scared to approach them in the halls if they need anything.
Mr Carey once again outlined the rules around school uniform and reminded students that it should be worn with a sense of pride.
Moving towards sports, Mr Brady thanked all students for their participation and compliance while signing up for the sports and arts programme. There were approximately 1500 individual sign ups for sports alone.
Mr Davies outlined a number of key rules, reminding us of the new policies regarding phone pouches.
Deputy Head Girl, Grace Mac Dermott, congratulated Shauna Seigfried on her recent golf successes over the summer. Other students who were congratulated included Aidan Ferguson on his selection for the Dublin hurling team, as well as Cian Quigley and Joshua O’Connor for selection on the Irish team for football. She then congratulated the Formula One team for their hard work over the summer and wished them good luck for their upcoming world finals in Singapore. We are also very excited for the 20 students who will be going to Zambia soon
Deputy Head girl Ellie hall closed the assembly once again thanking the student body and wishing a great year ahead for all staff and students.
