Girls' Basketball vs Coláiste Ráithín

Both the under-19 and under-16 Girls' basketball team were in action against Coláiste Ráithín on Tuesday 15th October. A local rivalry filled with healthy competition saw both sides battle it out to be Queens of the Court in the St. David's Sports Arena.

The St. David's U19 team played very well against well-organised Coláiste Ráithín side. In the first two quarters, Coláiste Ráithín put on a devastating attacking performance, scoring 36 points. However, the David's team displayed their near-trademark quality of bouncebackability, refusing to let the scoreline dampen their enthusiasm. In the fourth quarter the David's team played extremely well, conceding only 4 points, outscoring their opponents in the process. However, the clock ultimately proved to be against the away side just as momentum swung their way as the match ended 48-26 to Coláiste Ráithín. The entire team played amazingly, however two standout performances were delivered by Lauren and Teagan.

The St. David's Girls' U16 team were also in action against our fellow-North Wicklow neighbours. They displayed incredible determination all throughout the match. In the first, second and third quarters the sides were nail-bitingly close in their standard of play, as both teams traded points one for one. Unfortunately, in the fourth quarter, Coláiste Ráithín's relentless attacking discipline saw them take a slim lead, one which they continued to capitalise on and saw them take an eventual unassailable lead, winning 39-21 It was a performance that was built on a clear foundation of teamwork but two players whose performances across the court were particularly notable were Faye and Gabby.
