On the 24th of October 2023 our Junior Boys Gaelic football team faced Greystones Community college. The conditions were not favourable but the boys pulled through to pull out a great performance. The match kicked off at 13:35. The pitch was absolutely flooded and the boys started off slow, turning the ball over due to nerves and the wet conditions.
In the span of 5 minutes they were trailing behind 2-2 to 0-2. With good defending and a good counter attack the junior boys came right back into it. By half time, the game was in a stalemate at 2-5 to 2-5. It seems that Mr Crowe said some inspirational words at half time because the boys came out and scored 2 wonderful goals in 3 minutes. The junior boys dominated in the first 15 minutes of the second half but the GCC boys came back in and the last 15 minutes were very tight. Both teams were in a stalemate. Unfortunately a last minute goal from GCC saw them take the win 4-9 to 4-7.
Outstanding performances by Cillian Brady, Callum Clarke Twomey, Finn Geoghan and Leo Duffy. The goal scorers were Cillian Brady, Callum Clarke Twomey, Jamie Giles and Eoghan Waters. Overall it was a great performance from all the lads. Better luck next time!
