Junior Girls Gaelic Quarter Final - Janurary '24



On Tuesday the 9th of January, the Junior Girls Gaelic team were up against Presentation Carlow in Éire Óg. The girls started off with a warm-up led by Holly Sheehy and Lauren O' Leary then kick-off followed at 11:40. 


Presentation Carlow had an early lead when they scored a goal in the first few minutes of the match, but that didn't stop St David's as Nikki Maxwell scored the first point for the team. Great chances were set up by Caoimhe Davis and Lucy O' Leary . The girls still kept up the fight but only managed to score one more point before the half time whistle.


During the half time break Mr Geoghegan and team captain Lauren O Leary gave the team some much needed  words of encouragemnt. At half time, the opposing team were in the lead, but in the second half, St David's made a strong comeback with 4 goals scored by Hazel Pendergast and another 2 goals scored by Holly Sheehy. Lena Gleeson set up alot of play from the midfield area making most of these scores possible. The end score was 6-6 to 7-11 in favour of Presentation Carlow


In the end, St Davids didn't come back with a win against Presentation Carlow, but the girls still played some excellent Gaelic football, showcasing impressive teamwork skills.
