Today the 29th of November our Minor girls played a soccer match in Greystones United against Greystones Community College.
The game kicked off at 11:30. The girls started very well with some great plays on the left and right side of the pitch with Lena and Ceris. Grace O Neill started the score board off with a goal in the first half. The half time score was 1-0 to David’s.
At the start of the second half unfortunately the Captain Aine Ryan had to come off due to an injury passing the captaincy to Lily Cullen. Lena scored a great goal to make the score 2-0 to David’s. GCC were doing well and had a few shots on goal but our defence and our goalkeeper, Hazel Prendergast, did very well to keep them out. In the last few minutes the girls had a corner with a great cross in from Mae with an intercept from a player on the other team to handball into the goal. The referee decided on a penalty. Laoise O Gorman took it and scored a great goal in the top right corner. No chance of the goalkeeper saving it.
The game ended 3-0 to David’s with some great play in all areas of the pitch. Well done girls and well done to GCC for being great opponents!
