Senior Boys Soccer team vs Heywood Community College

On Wednesday the 17th of September, the Senior Boys Soccer team took on Heywood Community College to start off their FAI Schools Senior Cup. The game kicked off at 12pm on a warm afternoon in Greystones United.

The first half saw St David’s play excellently, dominating the ball and defending well. However no opportunities to score presented themself until Andrew wall in the thirtieth minute took a great corner. Jamie Coyle was able to head the ball into the opposition's net, scoring the first goal of the match, putting David's 1-0 up. They took the lead into half time, for a talk with coach Mr. Doyle who sent them back ready for the second half.

The away team came out on top in the first minutes of the second half scoring to make it 1-1. The lads didn’t give up and continued to put pressure on Heywood, although they couldn’t find a winner and the game went into extra time.

Early on in extra time St David's regained the lead with another fantastic goal from Jamie Coyle. They then managed to hold on to this lead and finished the match with a convincing 2-1 win.

Overall the team played great against a tough Heywood team and will be able to take this skill and work ethic into their next game. A huge thanks goes to coach, Mr. Doyle.
