Win for U16 Basketball Match against Coláiste Chill Mhaintáin

On Wednesday the 20th of September 2023, the U16 and U19 girls had their first league match against Coláiste Chill Mhaintáin. It was a great day for both teams as they won both their games and are moving on up through the league. It was a tough fight for the girls however, they pushed through and gathered their first win through amazing teamwork, communication, defence and their powerful offence.

The first match of the day was the U16s. It was a strong start in the first quarter with Lauren O’ Leary scoring the first basket of the game, also getting 1 out of 2 free shots. More amazing baskets were sunk by Sarah McCloskey, Lauren O’ Leary, Raquel Vergara Bosuo and Holly Goodwin. During the second quarter there was great teamwork on display particularly from Lily Esposito Meehan and Holly Goodwin, with a great shot by Grace McDermot scoring another 2 points for the team. Two brilliant layups by Raquel earning 4 points in total. There was not too much change in gameplay throughout the third quarter but some amazing shots by Lauren O’ Leary and Ella Andrews scoring a total of 6 points and many more baskets were scored during the last quarter by Ellie Hall and Grace McDermot's fantastic driving through to the hoop. Bringing the final score of the first match to a whopping 38-6 to St David's Holy Faith U16’s girls team.
